A lack of cadence
When algorithms rule all
Somewhat endearing
I made a promise to myself: two posts a week.
Two is better than one, but one is still better than none.
But am I writing for me, or because I want to stay trendy?
The modern image of online writing is deeply intertwined with digital presence and brand visibility. A long time ago, I learned that the surest way to be discovered on Google was simply to write.
Choose your words carefully, and perhaps the wandering Google user might choose you.
As the tubes of the internet grew more saturated, we began to value the freshness of content. The age of algorithms now dictates a constant writing schedule.
Write lest ye be forgotten.
While I have a hundred things to say and think on each and every day, the words don’t flow as smoothly. Not every thought is a haiku. Not every thought is a blog or LinkedIn post.
Some days I chase the post and others, like this very moment, it finds me.
Words, kindled by an offhand chat in a Slack channel - something unplanned and yet so deeply profound. A chain of messages has led me here, with an aching back, hunched over, fingers tapping on backlit keys.
And if the algorithm notices, so be it.
But I prefer if just the human does.
